The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) will be conducting several key assessments as part of the 2025 external examinations. These include the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) students. The BECE serves as a crucial transition point, evaluating the academic progress of students as they move from junior to senior secondary education. It is designed to measure the foundational knowledge acquired during the first three years of secondary school and to ensure that students are adequately prepared for more advanced studies.
In addition, the Basic Arabic and Islamic Certificate Examination (BAICE) will also be administered for JSS3 students enrolled in Arabic and Islamic-based education institutions. This examination supports Kaduna State’s inclusive educational policy by recognizing alternative learning pathways and ensuring that students in faith-based institutions are also assessed according to standardized academic benchmarks. The Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) Mock Examinations form another essential part of the assessment calendar. They simulate real examination conditions, enabling students to gauge their level of preparedness, identify areas that require improvement, and build exam-taking confidence before sitting for their final external exams.
Furthermore, a specialized version of the SS2 mock examinations will be conducted under the Special Assessment Initiative for Quality Education (SAIQE). This initiative is part of a broader education reform agenda launched by the Kaduna State Government to raise the standard of teaching and learning outcomes across the state. The SAIQE mock exams are strategically designed to measure both individual student performance and the effectiveness of school-based instruction, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement within the public education system.
