Position Summary & Responsibilities
Two full-time Laboratory Technicians are needed to assist with both clinical and research-related laboratory tasks. Key responsibilities include:

Receiving and processing biological samples (e.g., blood, urine, stool)

Performing microscopy, rapid diagnostic tests, and routine clinical chemistry

Operating and maintaining laboratory instruments

Preparing reagents and implementing quality control procedures

Recording and reporting results accurately using lab logs or digital systems

Managing stock of reagents, consumables, and other supplies

Ensuring compliance with biosafety protocols and proper waste management

Assisting with field research logistics and sample handling when required
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or Biomedical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution

Registration and current practicing license from the Allied Health Professionals’ Council (Uganda)

Minimum of 1 year practical laboratory experience in a clinical or research setting (preferred)

Demonstrated proficiency in microscopy (especially malaria smears) and basic chemical testing

Attention to detail, ethical conduct, and commitment to safety and hygiene standards

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reporting & Work Conditions

Reports to a Senior Laboratory Technician or Clinical Lab Coordinator

Based in Jinja, with duties at hospitals or partner research labs
