Renowned for delivering high-quality engineering solutions to the oil and gas industry, Daiik has consistently demonstrated excellence in handling both greenfield and brownfield projects across upstream and downstream sectors. With a growing portfolio of clients that include top-tier international oil companies, local operators, and government parastatals, the company has positioned itself as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s energy development efforts. Over the years, Daiik Engineering has earned a strong reputation for technical proficiency, safety compliance, innovation, and on-time project delivery.

As part of its continued expansion strategy and in response to new project wins, the company is seeking to hire a competent and experienced Project Engineer to join its multidisciplinary engineering team in Port Harcourt. This role is crucial to ensuring that assigned projects whether greenfield developments or brownfield modifications are executed with the highest level of professionalism, technical accuracy, and within defined timelines and budgetary constraints. The successful candidate will be immersed in a collaborative work culture that emphasizes continuous improvement, safety-first principles, and technical excellence.

Role Overview

The Project Engineer will play a central role in coordinating, managing, and executing engineering deliverables across various oil and gas projects. These projects may span from greenfield site developments such as early-stage field facilities and pipeline installations to brownfield projects involving upgrades, retrofits, and integration with existing systems and structures. The engineer will work closely with project managers, site engineers, procurement teams, HSE officers, and clients to ensure that all engineering activities align with contract specifications, technical standards, and industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will lead the development of project scope, engineering calculations, construction drawings, material take-offs, cost estimates, and progress reports. The Project Engineer must also ensure that engineering designs meet functional requirements, environmental safety guidelines, and long-term sustainability criteria. This position demands a high level of attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced project environment. In addition to technical responsibilities, the engineer will also be required to interface with clients during project reviews and site visits, and to contribute to overall business development by supporting tender preparations and feasibility studies when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering activities for both greenfield and brownfield oil and gas projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory standards.

  • Develop project plans, scopes of work, design calculations, specifications, and engineering drawings in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Oversee site inspections, technical reviews, and ensure quality control across all engineering deliverables.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters on the team.

  • Liaise with procurement and project control units to ensure timely acquisition and delivery of materials and services in line with project schedules.

  • Prepare regular project status updates, progress reports, and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Conduct constructability reviews and provide technical input into HAZOP, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.

  • Interface with clients, regulators, and third-party vendors to address technical inquiries, resolve design challenges, and ensure smooth project execution.

  • Participate in project commissioning and close-out processes, ensuring all documentation and as-built drawings are properly compiled and submitted.

  • Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies and Nigerian oil and gas industry standards (DPR, NUPRC, etc.).

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Petroleum, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as COREN, NSE, PMP, or API-related qualifications will be considered a significant advantage. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on engineering experience, preferably within the oil and gas industry, and with demonstrable involvement in both greenfield and brownfield projects.

Strong understanding of engineering codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ISO) is essential. The applicant should be proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAESAR II, StaadPro, or Primavera, depending on area of expertise. Experience with design optimization, cost control, and project scheduling is also critical. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required, as the position involves regular technical discussions with clients and cross-functional teams. A result-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for innovation are highly desirable traits.

Candidates must also demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and quality assurance principles. Familiarity with Nigerian content regulations, local community engagement, and logistics management within the Niger Delta region will also be considered a plus.
