About the Employer
Boulevard Hotels & Resorts, one of the emerging leaders in luxury hospitality development across West Africa, is set to launch a high-rise, state-of-the-art hotel facility in the commercial heart of Port Harcourt along Olu Obasanjo Road. This new landmark promises to redefine the city’s upscale hotel experience with world-class design, five-star accommodations, smart-room technology, wellness offerings, executive lounges, and multiple fine-dining options. As part of the strategic rollout of its operations, the company is seeking a General Manager (GM) to oversee full hotel operations with full profit-and-loss (P&L) ownership.
This flagship hotel represents a major milestone in the Boulevard brand’s expansion, and it is expected to cater to an elite clientele base including diplomats, corporate executives, foreign investors, oil & gas consultants, and high-net-worth individuals. It is built to accommodate high-volume traffic for conferences, weddings, and bespoke events. The GM will be the face of this premium brand within the Port Harcourt axis, responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic guest engagement, employee performance, and financial efficiency. The successful candidate will play a critical role in opening, stabilizing, and growing this hotel into a regional hospitality benchmark.
Role Description & Key Responsibilities
The General Manager will have end-to-end responsibility for managing the hotel’s daily operations, financial health, strategic direction, and service delivery, ensuring consistent alignment with the parent brand’s core values and guest satisfaction benchmarks. This includes leadership across departments such as Front Office, F&B Services, Housekeeping, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources. The GM will spearhead the pre-opening strategy and post-launch stabilization, ensuring a smooth rollout of services and seamless staff coordination from day one.
A core part of the role involves preparing and managing the hotel’s annual budget, forecasting revenue, monitoring costs, and implementing P&L initiatives to ensure financial profitability. The GM will be expected to maintain strong relationships with high-value clients, corporate partners, and vendors while driving occupancy and revenue targets through innovative packages, promotions, and events. The candidate must ensure optimal service quality, guest experience management, staff training and discipline, regulatory compliance, and incident response planning. The GM will also report directly to the hotel group’s executive board, delivering routine updates on hotel performance, operational issues, and market trends in the Port Harcourt and Niger Delta hospitality ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in hotel operations, with at least 3–5 years at a senior leadership or general manager level. A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Hotel & Tourism, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or executive training from top hotel schools (such as EHL, Les Roches, Cornell, etc.) will be highly regarded. Experience in new hotel openings, luxury segment operations, or high-volume event-driven facilities is a strong advantage.
Candidates must also demonstrate deep fluency with property management systems (PMS) such as Opera, Protel, or Cloudbeds and should have working knowledge of CRM systems, channel managers, and point-of-sale software. The ideal GM should have a data-driven approach to hotel management, blending operational metrics with frontline intuition to maintain high service standards while optimizing profitability. Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams, drive customer satisfaction KPIs, handle VIP/high-profile guests, and navigate complex HR scenarios is essential.
Key Competencies & Attributes

Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams in a high-pressure hospitality environment.
