Job Summary
Ericsson is currently recruiting for the position of Director of Government & Policy Advocacy – Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing government and public policy strategies to support Ericsson’s growth and innovation agenda across the African continent. This high-level leadership role requires a seasoned expert in public affairs, stakeholder engagement, and digital regulatory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Ericsson’s engagement with African governments, regulators, policy makers, and trade associations.
- Shape policy frameworks that support Ericsson’s telecommunications and digital transformation goals.
- Provide strategic advice to Ericsson’s senior executives on regulatory and political developments.
- Represent Ericsson in high-level government and industry discussions across Africa.
- Develop regional advocacy campaigns and manage government affairs programs.
- Coordinate internal and external stakeholders to align on policy positions.
- Monitor policy developments and emerging trends in telecom, data, cybersecurity, and digital governance.
- Deliver internal reports, briefing documents, and executive summaries.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Engineering, International Relations, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA, MSc, MA) preferred.
- At least 12 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or regulatory affairs within telecom, ICT, or a related sector.
- Strong network within African policy and regulatory environments.
- Understanding of ECOWAS regulatory frameworks and regional digital policies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English is required; French is a strong advantage.
- Ability to travel across Africa and internationally.
- Experience managing teams and cross-functional projects.
